The owners of the seasonal ‘just picked’ flower company, The Cornish Flower Patch, have been growing flowers at their farm located on the outskirts of Truro city in Cornwall since 2016. The Cornish Flower Patch offers an inspiring range and variety of flowers all freshly picked and packed for weddings, events and local Cornwall farm shops.
The Cornwall-based grower has developed a loyal social media following on Instagram with images of beautiful flowers posted daily. Having received regular enquires via the business Instagram account, and seeing comparable local Cornwall and national businesses receive sales from similar eCommerce websites, The Cornish Flower Patch recognised opportunities for selling online. They needed an e-commerce website which could act as their very own shop window.
On meeting with the owners of The Cornish Flower Patch, it was instantly evident that this would be an exciting project. With a clear vision for what they needed and a passion for their business. It was important that the new logo design, eCommerce website design and print marketing all had a consistent look which would help engage with the client’s target market while highlighting the excellent products available to purchase online via the new eCommerce website.
Being an established business in Cornwall, The Cornish Flower Patch had a good understanding of who they wanted to serve via the new eCommerce website. These requirements would provide a specific website design structure and a list of online web features.
As a seasonal grower, we identified that there should be an area on the website homepage to show seasonal flower varieties. The company owners also asked that the new website should service retail and wholesale customers. The Cornish Flower Patch needed a site which would appeal to both trade and individual customs, while also giving the company owners an easy-to-use eCommerce website for marketing and selling online.
Working with supplied illustrations, provided by a local Cornwall artist, I created several logo design options with the best being selected based on the client’s requirements. The chosen design offers a flexible and robust logotype with accompanying brand style for use throughout the new e-commerce website, packaging designs and all related marketing materials such as printed cards and leaflets.
On creating logotype and branding designs, I developed a new e-commerce web design. We first formulated a website plan which mapped out all the required web pages for SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) and then presented online site design visuals which incorporated all features from the agreed design brief and brand style.
